alex georgief karapancsev (they/them) is an exhibition architect and curatorial convener working across research, scenography and performance. their projects evolve across disciplines as a de-mystification of modernity and eurocentrism on one hand, and explorations of residual and ruinous forms of living on the other. their artistic and curatorial practice deploys this approach to understand how we can think of ruins and residue beyond scarcity, conflict and crisis.
in 2025, alex founded the curatorial and pedagogical project oxbow, dedicated to ruinous knowledge and residual space. they are also the co-founder of the Paratopia Curatorial Platform alongside Lola Knechtel Subirós and Christian Stegmann, which is a portable exhibition device operating in Zürich, CH.
alex has taught at ZHdK and has collaborated with the city of Zürich, ETH, Kunsthaus Zürich, la_cápsula, Cabaret Voltaire and Climanosco. their writing appears in the publication of Minerva, a publication created by Kim Anni Bassen and the Kosai monthly membership issue.
