After Oil! is an exhibition that functions as a file-sharing platform in which the documents reproduced and the objects displayed serve as a cartography for navigating the Swiss experience of oil history.

a short film collaboration between Angela Fusco and Alex Karapancsev, screened twice at Kino Toni and Cabaret Voltaire, and featuring an unofficial catalogue release.
the film is based on the synthesis between two thesis projects and focuses on bypassing the hegemonic narratives of history on the ‘peripheries’ of Europe.

graduate showcase exhibition with an accompanying mediation program. the exhibition featured the graduate students of the Curatorial Studies and Kulturpublizistik programs for the Diploma ‘25 ZHdK event.
the mediation program included: an opening with multiple DJs Chloé, carakaro, pink pop princess and fresh_pauli and a drag performance by Igigo Wu and fresh_pauli; two screenings of ‘an incarnation , or a possession, we cannot say’ (see above); and a day of readings and listenings at Cabaret Voltaire organized by Leila Adler.

A thesis work finalized into a book and a series of lecture-performances in the context of the ZHdK Master’s program Curatorial Studies.

“To inquire into the nature of narrating history, Alex Karapancsev proposes a phantasmagoria in three parts as curatorial research into the latent imaginaries of the Balkans. Situated at the intersection of Critical Balkanology and Gothic studies, the thesis weaves through three fictions to present a series of curated screens on which the excluded specters of Western modernity may manifest. The three gothumentaries explore the limits between positivist history and haptic stories in moments of contamination, conversion, encryptment, reanimation and globalization.”

lecture-performance at the Hofblum farm following a week-long artistic and historical research within the frame of the ZHdK module ‘Art as a Means of Historical Inquiry’.
the lecture-performance consisted of a speech intervention during the planting of local rotten fruits. the fruits have been previously tattooed over the course of the week with local ‘juices’ to provide an alchemical inquiry into the historical and ontological entanglements of the Hofblum farm with its soil and its workers.

in collaboration with Angela Fusco and Janik Bruschi, the mock-project involved a new route through the Met that explores objects of provenance research and the restitutional history of the museum.

‘the highway witch’ aimed at exploring the boundary conditions between artwork, artist and audience and the collaborations and conflicts between each party in a publication environment.

a project about the dissonance between news anchors and their coverage of natural disasters. The project uses nine parts of a single transcript describing a wildfire, transcribed in the shape of flames on recycled paper.
2021-2023 @ Zürich, Switzerland
a series of acrylic paintings on used canvases exploring topics of sollipsism, consumerism and their relationship with the climate crisis. the series follows an ‘ode to americana’ where ironies and omens abound within a landscape of denied endings.
